(Utrecht) – Student organizations have picked January 21st as the day to protest the cutting of expenses in higher education, as proposed by the government. The University of Utrecht has already openly rejected those plans earlier and is now also actively supporting the actions of student organizations. Chair of the Board Yvonne van Rooy states the university supports and with this decision encourages students to join the protests.
The exams are not canceled though. This is because it could have a negative effect on students that need the credits to be permitted to the Master’s program.
It is still unclear what other universities will also actively support the protests and in what way. As far as is known, the EUR has still got to make a decision on this matter.
